Barway Village Hall (land) Charity

In 2019 after an asset audit undertaken by Soham Town Council a number of land issues were identified

One has been the identification of a parcel of land in Barway under the Custodianship of a local Charity which had long been suspended due to most of the original Trustees having died.  Due to that suspension, the Charity was removed from the Charities Commission in or around the 1970’s.

The Land in question is identified below

There is no dispute regarding land ownership – this remains vested as an asset in the original charity.  However, for the land to be brought back into community use and service, the Barway Village Hall Charity needs to be reconstituted. To do this either the original Trustees need to be available or, in the absence of this, the organisations that were named in the original Deed of Conveyance would need to come together to reform. One of the original Bodies named in the Conveyance was Soham Parish (succeeded by Town) Council.
